Al Mansour Holdings (AMH), a Qatari investment firm owned by Sheikh Mansour bin Jabor bin Jassim Al Thani, is set to acquire a 19.9 percent stake in Australia-listed Invictus Energy. As part of the strategic partnership, AMH will provide up to $500 million in funding to support the development of Invictus Energy’s flagship Cabora Bassa natural gas project in Zimbabwe. The investment was made at a share price of A$0.095 and marks a significant boost for Invictus as it moves closer to commercialising its resource.

The funds will be directed toward the ongoing Cabora Bassa works programme, including the drilling of the Musuma-1 well, located in the eastern section of the concession. However, the financial support is contingent upon the execution of separate agreements and will depend on the timing of development milestones at the project site. As part of the investment agreement, AMH will also secure a seat on the Invictus Energy board, giving it direct involvement in guiding the company’s strategic direction.

In addition to the equity investment, AMH and Invictus will form a new joint venture named Al Mansour Oil & Gas. This upstream oil and gas entity will focus on acquiring, producing, and developing oil and gas assets across Africa. The venture aims to unlock value in underdeveloped or underutilised fields by increasing production, expanding infrastructure, and enhancing energy reliability in key regions across the continent.

Several high-impact transactions are already in the pipeline, with the first expected to close before the end of the year. Under the partnership, Invictus will take the lead in identifying and advancing upstream opportunities, as well as managing operations for the acquired assets. AMH, on the other hand, will provide full financial backing for the joint venture’s activities, including asset purchases, project development, and ongoing operations—positioning the new venture as a significant player in Africa’s energy sector.
