Aminex, the oil and gas exploration company focused on Tanzania, has confirmed that construction of a pipeline from the Ntorya gas field to the Madimba gas processing plant will begin in July 2025, with commissioning expected by July 2026. This development is a key step in unlocking gas from the Ntorya-2 well, which will supply domestic demand upon pipeline completion.
Operator ARA Petroleum Tanzania (APT) has submitted a rig tender strategy to PURA for drilling the Chikumbi-1 well and workover of Ntorya-1, aiming to issue tenders by mid-August 2025. PURA requested this strategy to accelerate project execution.
Aminex’s Executive Chairman, Charles Santos, expressed enthusiasm for the project’s momentum, thanking TPDC, PURA, and APT for their commitment. He emphasized the pipeline marks a “gamechanger for Tanzania’s energy landscape,” reinforcing the company’s belief in gas as a cleaner and economically transformative energy source for the region.
The first phase of gas will remain in Tanzania, supporting household energy, industrial growth, and helping replace dirtier fuels like coal and charcoal. With construction now firmly scheduled, Aminex says it’s closer than ever to making its long-held vision a reality.
