OneSubsea has secured a new contract with TotalEnergies for the Kaminho project, an offshore venture in Angola. The contract involves the provision of 13 subsea production system (SPS) well-sets, along with associated equipment and services, aimed at advancing the Cameia and Golfinho discoveries. This collaboration marks a significant step in tapping into Angola's rich energy resources.
"We are excited for this opportunity to unlock the large potential of the Kaminho project together with TotalEnergies," said Mads Hjelmeland, CEO of OneSubsea. He highlighted that their collaborative contract model allows for a blend of standardization and highly configurable subsea production platforms, which not only creates greater efficiencies but also ensures long-term value for this project and future endeavors in Angola and globally.
The Kaminho project represents the first major deepwater development in the Kwanza basin, heralding a new frontier for Angola's energy sector. Designed with a strong focus on environmental sustainability, the project aims to minimize greenhouse gas emissions and eliminate routine flaring by fully re-injecting associated gas into the reservoirs.
Production is slated to commence in 2028, with an anticipated plateau of 70,000 barrels of oil per day. Moreover, the project is expected to generate over 10 million man-hours in Angola, with OneSubsea contributing significantly through local assembly, manufacturing of modules, installation, commissioning, and life-of-field services.
