The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition will host Africa Oil Week (AOW) 2025, the continent’s premier energy event focused on upstream development and finance. Scheduled for September 15-18, 2025, at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra, the event will bring together key industry leaders, including ministers, national oil companies (NOCs), regulators, and private sector executives. This high-profile gathering aims to unlock investment, forge strategic energy partnerships, and shape the future of Africa’s upstream oil and gas sector.

Sector Minister John Abdulai Jinapor reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring Africa maximizes its natural resources for socio-economic transformation and energy security. He emphasized that Africa must take charge of its energy future by securing investment, accelerating production, and leveraging technology to decarbonize the upstream sector. His statement highlights the urgency for African nations to adapt to the rapidly shifting global energy landscape.

AOW 2025 will feature Ghana’s National Showcase, where the government will present its vision to position the country as a competitive upstream destination. The event will serve as a platform for policy announcements, regulatory updates, and geological presentations on key basins like Keta and Voltarian, offering new exploration opportunities for international oil and gas investors. Paul Sinclair, CEO of AOW, expressed excitement over Ghana’s commitment to hosting the event, noting that Africa is increasingly attracting global energy investment.

In addition to investment showcases, AOW 2025 will feature high-level ministerial summits, exclusive discussions, and major announcements on Ghana’s new production targets. The government plans to increase daily oil output from the current 120,000-130,000 barrels per day to a significantly higher benchmark, further strengthening the country’s role as a leading oil and gas destination. Sinclair emphasized that AOW 2025 will be a pivotal event for Africa’s energy sector, run by Africa, and designed to drive the continent’s energy future forward.
