Drilling and exploration activities in Africa are progressing rapidly, with a significant increase in activity. The Noble Venture, a large exploration vessel owned by Britain's Noble Corporation, is set to embark on two new missions in Africa. The vessel is currently in Ghana, where it is expected to complete its mission ahead of schedule.
After Ghana, the Noble Venture will head to Equatorial Guinea, followed by Namibia. The demand for offshore drilling rigs in Africa has risen, driven by the expansion of exploration activities and increasing interest from oil companies looking to tap into the continent's resources.
Noble Corporation has announced that the Noble Venture will complete its mission in Ghana by May 2024, instead of the previously planned March 2025. The vessel will then move to Equatorial Guinea for a new drilling mission under a 150-day contract. Trident Energy, which terminated its contract with another drilling company for safety reasons, will use the Noble Venture to drill development and exploration wells.
After Equatorial Guinea, the Noble Venture will move to Namibia to support Rhion Resources' drilling plans. The vessel, equipped with advanced drilling technology, has a strong environmental focus, using low-emission and carbon footprint technologies.
The Noble Venture is a seventh-generation vessel, built in 2014 by Samsung Heavy Industries. It can drill at depths of up to 40,000 feet and accommodates a crew of 230. The vessel's capabilities are expected to greatly enhance drilling activities in Equatorial Guinea and Namibia, with potential resources estimated at 180 million barrels.
