An Indian company,- A Orga Bharat BTE Limited bu Dhabi, has been granted oil and gas production concessions in Ruwais, UAE, highlighting the strengthening cooperation between the two nations. The Supreme Council for Financial and Economic Affairs announced the concession, which is owned by Indian Oil Company Limited and Bharat Petroleum, marking a significant development in the energy sector of Abu Dhabi.
Orga Bharat first acquired an exploration concession in March 2019 and completed the exploration phase with investments exceeding $164 million. The new production agreement aligns with the UAE’s plan to enhance the value of its hydrocarbon resources, boost oil production to 5 million barrels per day by 2027, and achieve gas self-sufficiency, according to reports from the Specialty Energy Platform.
Spanning 6,162 square kilometers, the Ruwais concession grants Orga Bharat 100% production rights, following successful exploration efforts in Onshore Area 1. This area, which covers 38 square kilometers, contains both conventional and untapped oil and gas resources, contributing to the development of Abu Dhabi’s hydrocarbon reserves and supporting its long-term economic growth.
Jassim Mohammed Buataba Al Zaabi, Secretary General of the Supreme Council, emphasized that the concession award demonstrates efforts to strengthen the hydrocarbon sector and contribute to Abu Dhabi's economic sustainability. The Council’s strategy focuses on international partnerships, aiming to solidify Abu Dhabi's leadership in the global energy industry and ensure that oil and gas resources continue driving future prosperity.
