Adani Energy Solutions said on Wednesday that it has won a 47-billion-rupee ($492.6 million) transmission project in Maharashtra, strengthening the conglomerate’s efforts to expand its clean-energy infrastructure.

The project, which is expected to be completed within 36 months, will enable the transmission of up to 4,500 MW of renewable and energy-storage power. It will also add 562 circuit kilometres of transmission lines and 9,000 MVA of transformation capacity to the company’s portfolio.

The project will transport renewable power generated in Karnataka to major load centres in Maharashtra while supporting the development of the state’s pumped-storage ecosystem, particularly in Satara, Pune and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

The initiative comes as India accelerates investment in its transmission network to support its goal of reaching 500 GW of non-fossil-fuel power capacity by 2030.

Key components include a new substation in Satara, a transmission line linking Kolhapur and Satara, and upgrades to the Kolhapur pooling station. The project is expected to help strengthen grid connectivity and facilitate the integration of increasing amounts of renewable and pumped-storage power.
