The National Communication Strategy for Clean Cooking Energy is a crucial roadmap for achieving the country's goal of ensuring citizens use safe, environmentally friendly, and affordable energy by 2034. This strategy aims to have 80% of Tanzanians using clean cooking energy within the next decade.

Speaking on November 17, 2025, Acting Head of Government Communication at the Ministry of Energy, Ms. Neema Mbuja, emphasized that the strategy is vital for implementing national and international agreements aimed at combating climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The ten-year national strategy focuses on reducing respiratory diseases caused by smoke, protecting forests, and creating economic opportunities through investments in clean cooking technology and appliances.

Ms. Mbuja also explained that the clean cooking energy strategy is aligned with the national communication strategy, which aims to raise awareness among Tanzanians through nationwide campaigns involving radio, television, social media, public exhibitions, and specialized training for community leaders, journalists, and online influencers. Through these efforts, Tanzanians will receive targeted messages and understanding about clean cooking energy.

Additionally, Engineer Samwel Kessy from the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) highlighted that the national clean cooking energy strategy is an essential concept for achieving the country's objectives of safety, sustainability, and ease of access to clean cooking energy, while also saving time. This strategy ensures that Tanzanians can access energy solutions that are safe, sustainable, and convenient.
