Nigeria’s domestic gas supply has surpassed 2 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d), as the government works to increase supplies to power plants and industries. Gas production has risen to 7.5 bcf/d from 6.8 bcf/d in 2023, while proven reserves increased to 215.19 trillion cubic feet.
The government is targeting gas production of 10 bcf/d by 2027 and 12 bcf/d by 2030 to meet rising demand from power generation, industries, fertiliser production, LNG and exports.
The completed Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben (OB3) pipeline is expected to add more than 500 million standard cubic feet per day to domestic supply, while the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano pipeline is about 95% complete.
Nigeria also aims to attract about $30 billion in gas-sector investment by 2030, with government-backed projects already drawing significant private investment to expand the country’s gas infrastructure.
