The partners developing the Ntorya natural gas field in Tanzania are making steady progress on key infrastructure required for production. The 35-km pipeline connecting the field to the 210-MMcfd Madimba gas processing plant is expected to be completed and commissioned in the third quarter of 2026. Line pipe for the project has already been manufactured and is scheduled to arrive in Tanzania by late January 2026, marking an important milestone for the project timeline.

Development of the Ntorya field itself is also advancing under operator ARA Petroleum Tanzania (APT). Contracting work to bring the Ntorya-2 well (NT-2) into production is well advanced and aligned with the pipeline commissioning schedule. The company expects to award the principal contract in January 2026, ensuring that production facilities are ready once the pipeline becomes operational.

Drilling and well rehabilitation activities continue to move forward. APT has received all tenders for the procurement of a drilling rig and associated services for the Chikumbi-1 well (CH-1) and the workover of the Ntorya-1 well (NT-1), and evaluations are currently underway. According to partner Aminex PLC, all required casings, tubulars, and wellheads are already on site, reducing potential delays to upcoming operations.

Site preparation and infrastructure development are also underway at Ntorya. Civil works contracts have been awarded to a local construction company, with activities scheduled to begin next month, including well-pad preparation, rehabilitation, and access road construction. In addition, Tanzania Petroleum Development Corp. awarded the pipeline’s EPC contract in July 2025, while resource estimates indicate Ntorya holds significant gas potential, with proven reserves of 1.8 tcf and much larger contingent and unrisked gas resources.
