Saudi Arabia is set to host the 27th World Energy Congress from October 26 to 29, 2026, as announced by the World Energy Council. The Kingdom, represented by its Ministry of Energy, will organize the event in Riyadh under the theme "Inspiring Changes to Achieve Energy Transitions," according to a statement from the Washington-based Specialized Energy Platform.
The upcoming edition of the World Energy Congress aims to inspire and combine ambition, vision, and opportunities, taking into account diverse economic and regional conditions. The event will focus on addressing all aspects of the energy sector in a holistic manner, fostering collaboration and innovation.
The previous World Energy Congress, held in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, in April 2024, centered on the theme "Reshaping the Energy Landscape." It aimed to transition the world’s efforts in energy from conceptual planning to practical implementation, laying the groundwork for future global energy transformations.
Commenting on Saudi Arabia's hosting of the 2026 event, Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman emphasized the significance of this stage in the global energy sector, with ongoing changes and growing importance. He reiterated the Kingdom’s commitment to aligning the event’s goals with "Saudi Vision 2030" and advancing global efforts in sustainability, clean energy, and groundbreaking initiatives like the Green Initiative and Green Middle East.
