Tanzania and Egypt have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in the execution of energy projects, building on the foundation established by the founding leaders of both nations. This was emphasized during a high-profile site visit to the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project (JNHPP) in the Coast Region, where key officials from both countries discussed ongoing and future energy collaborations.

Deputy Minister for Energy Judith Kapinga, who led the Tanzanian delegation, expressed gratitude for President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s leadership, stating, “We are extremely grateful to President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her steadfast leadership in driving the successful implementation of this vital energy project.” She also acknowledged Egypt’s adherence to Tanzania’s specifications in executing the JNHPP project, noting that eight out of the nine turbines have already been successfully activated and integrated into the national grid.

Egyptian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, commended the longstanding partnership between the two nations. He highlighted the benefits the JNHPP project brings to Tanzanians, particularly those residing near the dam, stating, “The project is a great example of what African nations can achieve when they collaborate on initiatives that benefit the continent's development.” He further affirmed Egypt’s commitment to future energy collaborations with Tanzania.

In support of these efforts, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Dennis Londo, emphasized the importance of diplomatic engagement in unlocking economic opportunities, particularly in the energy sector. The delegation’s visit included high-ranking officials from both countries, underscoring the significance of Tanzania and Egypt’s growing cooperation in energy development.
