Tanzania's Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) and Zambia’s Energy Regulation Board (ERB) have agreed to strengthen cooperation to improve energy services in both countries. The two organizations will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize their collaboration in key economic and infrastructural areas.
Key areas of focus include exchanging technical, economic, and infrastructure-related information, building capacity for experts, and sharing professional experiences. This collaboration has already yielded significant progress in regulating petroleum, natural gas, and electricity sectors, ensuring safety and operational efficiency.
A major achievement of the partnership is the joint inspection of the TAZAMA Oil Pipeline, which has improved its safety and efficiency. This demonstrates both countries' commitment to enhancing regulatory standards within the energy sector.
During a recent visit, EWURA officials inspected the pipeline, assessing operational challenges and exploring solutions to improve oil transportation services. This visit underscores EWURA’s commitment to identifying challenges in the petroleum sector and finding ways to improve infrastructure and services.
