" /> Cap prices for Petroleum products ." />The Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) announces the Cap Prices for petroleum products applicable across Tanzania Mainland, effective from Wednesday, 1st January 2025, starting at 12:01 am. The retail and wholesale prices of petrol, diesel, and kerosene in major ports such as Dar es Salaam, Tanga, and Mtwara have been determined as shown in the respective tables provided. These prices will serve as a guideline for both consumers and retailers to ensure transparency and compliance within the petroleum market.
In January 2025, FOB (Free on Board) reference prices for refined petroleum products are based on market trends observed in the Arab Gulf during December 2024. Notably, the FOB prices saw a 2.69% increase for petrol, while diesel and kerosene experienced decreases of 0.59% and 1.97%, respectively, compared to November 2024. Similarly, premiums for petroleum products saw mixed trends across different ports. At Dar es Salaam Port, premiums increased by 5.45% for petrol, 13.01% for diesel, and 8.82% for kerosene. However, Tanga and Mtwara ports observed varying adjustments in premiums, reflecting the dynamics of regional market conditions.
EWURA further informs the public that the applicable exchange rate for determining prices in January 2025 decreased by 11.27%, which impacts the final pricing of petroleum products. Retailers are required to adhere to the set cap prices indicated in Table 3, while wholesalers must comply with the prices outlined in Table 2. Any deviation from these instructions will attract legal penalties, underscoring EWURA’s commitment to maintaining fair and competitive practices in the petroleum sector.
