DODOMA: THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW TAZAMA PIPELINE IS UNDERWAY.

The construction of a new oil pipeline expected from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania to Ndola Zambia, using the TAZAMA pipeline developer will have a length of 1710 kilometers and the capacity to transport a million tons of cubic meters 4 is about to start. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Hon. Dr. Doto Biteko, he said this today tar 29.01.2024 when he met the Minister of Energy of Zambia Hon. Peter Kapala, in the city of Dodoma to discuss the implementation of the proposals for the construction of the pipeline.

The agreement for the construction of the pipeline was reached for the first time between the retired President of Zambia, Hon. Edgar Changwa Lungu and the former President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hayati Dr. John Pombe Magufuli, in 2016. “Today's meeting is the result of the visit of the President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, in Zambia, in October 2023, where they discussed with the President of Zambia, Hon. Hakainde Hichilema, regarding the implementation of the construction of the new TAZAMA pipeline” he said Dr.  Biteko.

The session included experts from EWURA, PURA and TPDC, institutions that perform various roles in the country's petroleum sector. A technical committee consisting of experts in oil, law and economic control from Tanzania and Zambia has already been formed to achieve the initial activities of the construction of the pipeline, including developing terms of reference, carrying out a feasibility study as well as environmental and social impact analysis in the project. The committee will be led by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy, Mha. Felchesmi Mramba.
