French supermajor TotalEnergies and China’s Sinopec have teamed up to target clean fuels for air transportation.
TotalEnergies chief executive Patrick Pouyanne and Sinopec chairman Ma Yongsheng witnessed the signing of the deal, which the companies said solidifies their joint commitment to pioneering sustainable aviation fuels (SAF).
The deal follows hot on the heels of a recent collaboration agreement between TotalEnergies and Airbus.
Meanewhile, Sinopec’s Zhenhai Refinery has secured a bio-jet fuel airworthiness certificate from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
Derived from used cooking oil, Zhenhai refinery boasts an annual designed processing capacity of 100,000 tonnes of SAF.
