The Wafra field, shared by Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, has recently experienced significant developments. Both countries are working diligently to increase the field's production to 300,000 barrels per day by 2027. A statement from the Washington-based Specialized Energy Platform reveals that Oman's Abraaj Energy Services Company has successfully begun operations for its second drilling rig in the field. This milestone follows the acquisition of operational permits and final approval from the relevant authorities.

Abraaj Energy Services, through its Wafra project, aims to expand its activities in both regional and global markets. The company is also focused on diversifying its service portfolio, exchanging expertise, and adopting best practices in drilling, sustainability, and technology. This achievement underscores the company's commitment to strategic growth and its efforts to reinforce its position as a leading oil and gas services provider in the region.

This development is part of a continued partnership with Kuwait's Gulf Oil Company and Saudi Arabia's Chevron. The new drilling rig, equipped with automated lifting technology and innovative AI-supported solutions, enhances the efficiency, reliability, and safety of drilling operations. The advanced technology integrated into the rig significantly boosts the competitiveness of the services and solutions offered by Abraaj Energy Services.

On February 25, 2023, Oman signed a strategic partnership with Saudi Chevron and Kuwait Gulf Oil Company (KGOOC) for a five-year period, under which Abraaj Energy Services will build three drilling and services platforms for the Wafra field project. Engineer Saif bin Saeed Al Hamami, CEO of Abraaj Energy Services, emphasized that the early commencement of operations on the second drilling rig highlights the company's efficiency and operational capacity. The Wafra field, located in the Divided Zone between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, recently achieved a production level of nearly 170,000 barrels per day, and efforts continue to boost this figure.
