West Africa is drawing the attention of three companies aiming to develop untapped oil and gas fields while incorporating carbon capture technologies. Norway's Carbon Circle has joined forces with Amplus VGE, a joint venture between the UK's Amplus Energy and Nigeria-based Versatile Group. These companies are targeting marginal oil and gas fields in West Africa to highlight their untapped potential and contribute to carbon capture efforts.
The partnership between Amplus Energy and Freestyle Group, combined with Amplus VGE's production expertise, aims to unlock West Africa's full potential through field development solutions, local engagement, and stakeholder collaboration. Carbon Circle's addition and its carbon capture technology offer a full-service solution to support undeveloped oil and gas field owners through unlocking their valuable reserves from production to carbon capture.
Amplus VGE, supported by Carbon Circle, plans to offer innovative solutions to identify profitable marginal oil and gas fields in West Africa. The company has also made a long-term investment in the region by opening a new Nigerian office in Abuja, aiming to create local jobs and provide skills training and development. This initiative marks a significant step in leveraging expertise and innovative solutions to transform the West African market and enhance productivity.
