Mradi wa Rusumo kuongeza uhakika wa umeme Kanda ya Ziwa
Imeelezwa kuwa, kukamilika kwa mradi wa umeme wa Rusumo wa megawati 80 kutaimarisha hali ya upatikanaji umeme katika mikoa ya Kanda ya Ziwa ambapo kumekuwa na changamoto ya kuwepo kwa umeme pungufu na usio wa uhakika na pia kuufanya Mkoa wa Kagera kuanza kutumia umeme wa gridi.
Waziri wa Nishati, Mhe.January Makamba alisema hayo wilayani Ngara mkoani Kagera wakati alipokagua kazi ya ujenzi mradi huo wa ubia baina ya nchi za Tanzania, Rwanda na Burundi ambapo umeme utakaozalishwa utagawanywa kwa usawa baina ya nchi hizo.
“Mradi huu umekuwa na changamoto nyingi lakini katika kipindi cha miezi Sita iliyopita tumefanya kazi kubwa ya kusukuma na kushirikiana na wenzetu ili kuhakikisha kwamba unakamilika haraka, tunautegemea sana mradi huu katika kuongeza uwezo, nguvu na uhakika wa umeme katika Kanda ya Ziwa, sasa tunafurahi kwa hatua iliyofikia sasa na tutaendelea kuusimamia ili kuongeza mchango katika gridi ya Taifa.” Alisema Makamba
Alieleza kuwa mradi huo unaohusisha ujenzi wa mtambo wa uzalishaji umeme, bwawa, eneo la kupokea umeme kabla haujasambazwa na ujenzi wa njia za kusafirisha umeme kutoka eneo la mradi hadi Nyakanazi, umefikia asilimia 95 na unatarajiwa kukamilika mwezi Novemba mwaka huu.
Kuhusu ujenzi wa njia ya kusafirisha kutoka eneo la mradi hadi Nyakanazi alimtaka mkandarasi wa mradi huo kuongeza kasi ya ujenzi ili umalizaji wa miundombinu hiyo ya kuchukua umeme kwenye mradi wa Rusumo uendane sambamba na umalizaji wa mitambo ya kuzalisha umeme.
Waziri wa Nishati pia alikagua eneo kutakapojengwa kituo cha kupoza umeme cha BENACO na ameitaka TANESCO kuhakikisha kuwa inaharakisha ujenzi wa kituo hicho ambacho kitatoa umeme kutoka mradi wa Rusumo na kuusafirisha kwa msongo wa kV 220 kwenda Kyaka mkoani Kagera ili mkoa huo upate umeme kutoka gridi ya Taifa badala ya Uganda.
Kuhusu malalamiko ya fidia kwa kaya 1200 zilizoathirika kutokana na kufunga njia kubwa ya maji ili kuetekeleza mradi wa umeme wa Rusumo, alieleza kuwa kaya zilizothibitishwa hadi sasa na Serikali ni 1,041 na watalipwa fidia hiyo mwezi wa Tisa mwaka huu na pia nyumba 304 zilizoathirika na zitakarabatiwa
