Tanzanian Engineer. Joyce Kisamo from the Ministry of Energy has become the second African to receive the LUCE award for a woman who has done well in energy, environment and sustainable sector.
Joyce, who is the Assistant Commissioner for Petroleum from the Ministry of Energy emerged the winner of the 2024 LUCE Awards in the category of Experienced Woman who left a mark beating 15 other women from various European and Asian countries.
More than 2,000 votes were cast worldwide and 600 votes were enough to give victory to Engineer. Joyce who was the only African and in that category she has emerged the winner by leaving many marks in her work performance (Legacy Women Category).
With that win Joyce has been recognized internationally as an experienced Woman who has worked and left an economic, environmentally and socially beneficial mark in the Sustainable Sector particularly Clean and Sustainable Energy.
Presentation of the prize took place on 16th May, 2024 in Florence Italy then the winner will attend the Clean and Sustainable Energy Conference. (Flagship Conference) from 23 to 25 May, 2024 at European University Institute.
The aim of launching the competition is to advocate for the important roles of women towards better sustainable energy use.
The discussions took place during the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which started today in Baku, Azerbaijan.
